About

I am a psychotherapist and a sex therapist; these disciplines intertwine and inform my clinical practice everyday. My approach is psychodynamic, which means that you and I will work together. This collaborative work will help us to unravel the meanings and interpretations that sometimes are affecting the way we see our life and the patterns we find ourselves in.

Through my professional and personal experience, I have found psychotherapy to be the most powerful tool to produce long lasting changes in a person’s life. When psychotherapy meets sex therapy, this tool encompasses all and every aspect of a person’s expressions of life. I understand sex –in all its expressions: sexual identity, sexual relations, sexuality, as an addiction or as an avoidance- as an integral part of who we are. I believe in embracing the experiences we have had, and the kind of life and relationships we want to have. Life is an interconnected continuum with constant changes, some more challenging than others.

I worked as a senior psychotherapist at the New Zealand Aids Foundation – Burnett Centre for seven years, which gave me ample experience in working with male sexuality issues. I completed the Advanced Training in Sex Therapy in 2012 and I have been seeing couples and individuals since then. Other issues I work with are anxiety, depression, migration and acculturation, to name a few.

I have a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

I am fluent in English and Spanish.
