About

I am a happily married mature woman, born in New Zealand, with Scottish, Irish and Maori ancestry (Ngai Tahu). I am the mother of two adult children who experience long term health disabilities. I am an experienced counsellor, parenting educator and social worker and practice from a Narrative framework, believing the problem is the problem, never the person.

The therapeutic approach I employ is tailored to meet the needs of the person and may include ideas from Narrative Therapy, CBT, DBT, Solution Focussed Therapy, Trauma Informed Therapy, Emotionally Focussed Therapy, Mindfulness, Family Therapy and some of the humanistic therapies.

During therapy I am interested in collaboratively uncovering socio- cultural and political factors that may also be impacting on the person and their problem. I have had experience working with most of the problems that people bring to counselling.
