The service I offer is based around career guidance – providing people with the resources to make informed choices about the types of work or training they wish to pursue. I work primarily with two theories -Social Learning theory (John Krumboltz) is based on teaching people new career decision making skills with the emphasis placed on the present and not the past. These skills are achieved through reinforcement, role modelling and simulation. Solution focused brief therapy (SFBT), focuses on what people want to achieve rather than on what made them seek help in the first place. The approach does not focus on the past, but instead, focuses on the present and future. In SFBT, respectful curiosity is used with people to envision their preferred future.
